H. Raymond Fasano had the privilege in his final responsibility as Chair of the Federal Bar Association’s Immigration Law Section to present the 1st Annual Global Citizenship Award to Cecile Kyenge Kashetu. Ms. Kashetu was born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. After a distinguished career in medicine and promoting social justice, Ms. Kashetu became involved in public service. At first she was elected to a local position in Modena. Later she was elected as member of the Italian Parliament’s Chamber of Deputies. She was then appointed as Minister of Integration by Prime Minister Enrico Letta. Finally, she was elected to represent Italy in the European Parliament.
