“An Update from the AILA Conference: Some Good News for Families”

On Behalf of | Jun 27, 2013 | Uncategorized

Expectations from experts on the subject are that the Family 2A preference category (spouses and children of Lawful Permanent Residents) will go current in the August Visa Bulletin!

As of the current visa bulletin, F2A cases with priority dates of October 2011 (for Mexico it is September 2011) are now being processed so that is a nice jump. The rumor is that F2A should remain current into 2014 which is great news for families eager to complete adjustment of status and those who remain separated pending Consular Processing.

Of course, the Senate bill proposes eliminating the F2A category and making such people Immediate Relatives which would be the best news for families. While we await House action in the coming months, with this news of visa advancement at least we will be able to help those who have been dealing with this backlog.
