Safashia Khan-Semiz, Esq. joined Youman Madeo and Fasano in 2019. Safashia earned her J.D. from New England School of Law and a Cum Laude graduate from SUNY Albany where she earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in Political Philosophy. 

Safashia’s awareness of immigration issues in the US began to grow while in law school where she interned at an asylum and refugee clinic in Boston. Here, she represented asylum seekers from the Tibetan community.  Thereafter, she continued to pursue a career in immigration with other immigration organizations in New York focusing on family based petitions and defensive removal proceedings. 

Prior to joining Youman Madeo and Fasano, Safashia was the managing attorney for a small immigration law firm in New York. Some of her previous immigration experience involved successfully representing asylum seekers in removal proceedings. She was able to gain an expansive array of experience in multiple US jurisdictions. Now, she is experienced in federal litigation, defensive and affirmative relief.
