Jake LaRaus first worked as a law clerk for Youman, Madeo & Fasano before being hired as an Associate. He earned his Juris Doctor from American University Washington College of Law in 2015 and his Bachelor of Arts from Northwestern University in 2012.

Jake came to immigration by chance during law school, enrolling in an immigration law class on a whim during the fall of his second year. Much to his surprise, he quickly fell in love with the field and subsequently took classes in asylum law, business immigration, and other immigration-related subjects. By virtue of his law school's location in the nation's capital, Jake was fortunate to be taught by experienced immigration-focused public servants, including Office of Immigration Litigation Deputy Director David McConnell and former INS General Counsel Bo Cooper. During law school, Jake also worked for prominent immigration firms in the DC area, was involved in his school's immigration legal clinic, and was an editorial board member of his school's human rights legal publication, the Human Rights Brief. Upon graduation, Jake returned to New York to professionally pursue his love of immigration law and use his skills to help others navigate the immigration process.

In his free time, Jake is actively involved in immigration-related political advocacy and has testified before the Committee on Immigration of the New York City Council.
