Melissa Peterson

New York, New York

Melissa Peterson joined Youman, Madeo & Fasano, LLP as an associate attorney in 2019. Melissa graduated from New England Law | Boston in 2014 and entered immigration practice in 2016, working for a small immigration firm in Boston before launching her solo practice. As an associate and a solo practitioner, Melissa has worked on a wide variety of immigration cases, ranging from asylum and removal defense to family petitions, waivers of inadmissibility and applications for naturalization.
Melissa’s passion for human rights led her to a career in immigration. Along the way she has dabbled in other fields of law including family law, criminal law and even civil litigation. During law school, Melissa interned at the Committee for Public Counsel Services (Boston’s public defender’s office) and following law school she volunteered with the Volunteer Lawyer’s Project and the Women’s Bar Foundation’s Family Law Project, two programs that served low-income clients and victims of domestic violence.
In her free time, Melissa enjoys exploring New York City’s rich art, music and food scenes which certainly wouldn’t be what they are today without the influence and contributions from the city’s many immigrant communities. Melissa is proud to represent immigrants in the fight for their legal rights and for a better future in the U.S.
